Real Time Flood Watch App: On many occasions, it happens that people do not get to know about the flood and they have to suffer due to sudden water. Have to leave for home in a hurry. The purpose of this app is to save people from such situation. To save from the flood situation, the government has taken the help of technology.

The Central Government has launched an app to provide ‘real time’ information on the flood situation in the affected areas. Central Water Commission (CWC) chairman Kushwinder Vohra said the ‘Floodwatch’ app will collect data from 338 stations in 23 states and union territories to send flood-related updates in ‘real time’.
Launching ‘Floodwatch’, Vohra said the app aims to use mobile phones to disseminate information related to floods. It will provide a forecast of up to seven days. He said that this app uses advanced techniques like satellite data analysis, mathematical modeling and real-time monitoring to give accurate and timely flood forecast.

Vohra said, the app has been made user friendly, which will make it easy for everyone to access flood related information and it will reduce the risk during flood events. The CWC chief said, ‘Floodwatch’ will send warning messages and flood forecast in both written and audio formats.
If you want to use this app, then you have to download it from play store in mobile. On searching the flood watch app, the app will appear, which has to be downloaded. After necessary permission, this app will tell about the flood situation everywhere in the country. You can find out where and how much water is around you through this app.

The app will currently disseminate information in Hindi and English language but will soon be expanded to other regional languages as well. He told that this app has been made by CWC. However, flood-affected Himachal Pradesh is not connected with this app and its services will be available in the state within six months.
