Google has integrated AI features into Gmail, allowing you to interact with Gemini AI to get tasks done. Essentially, Google has introduced new voice features across Gmail, Docs, and Keep that enable users to search for emails, create documents, and organize notes simply by speaking. The concept is simple: instead of typing everything out, you can now complete tasks within Google Workspace using your voice.

Google CEO Sundar Pichai shared the news in a post on X, stating, “New Gemini voice features are coming, allowing you to search your Gmail inbox, organize your thoughts and tasks in Keep, and create new Docs—all through conversation. This update is currently being rolled out to Google AI subscribers!”

This update introduces three new voice-based features to Google Workspace: Gmail Live, Docs Live, and Keep Live. While each feature serves a different function, the goal is the same: you speak, and Gemini does the work.
Gmail Live
First up is Gmail Live. With the Gmail Live voice feature, you can search your inbox simply by asking Gemini questions. Instead of opening individual emails or scrolling through long conversation threads, you can ask something like, “What is my flight’s gate number?” or “What is happening at my child’s school this week?” Gmail Live searches your inbox and provides the relevant information.
Docs Live
Next is Docs Live, which Google describes as a “hands-free thought partner.” If you have an idea but aren’t sure where to start, you can simply talk to Docs Live to share your thoughts. Gemini can then transform your ideas into an organized, context-aware document. With your permission, Docs Live can also pull relevant information from Gmail, Drive, Chat, and the web. Google states that it can assist with brainstorming, creating outlines, and even refining the tone while drafting the initial version.
Keep Live
As the name suggests, this feature works within Google Keep and is designed to help you quickly jot down your thoughts. You can simply speak your mind, and Gemini can turn your ideas into organized notes, lists, and to-do items.
When will this feature be available?
The new voice features for Gemini AI are rolling out this week. Gmail Live and Keep Live are available to Google AI Premium, Pro, and Ultra subscribers, while Docs Live is available to Pro and Ultra subscribers. The company states that these features will soon be available to Google Workspace business customers as well.
