Google Photos: Your Phone Becomes a ‘Digital Wardrobe’ – Will AI Tell You Which Outfit Suits You Best? Understand the New Feature

Google Photos has introduced an AI feature that could prove particularly useful for women. The company has launched an AI-powered “Wardrobe” feature. Currently, this feature is available for Android devices; it is scheduled to arrive for iOS users by the end of 2026. This tool will automatically identify clothing items within your photo library and organize them into a digital closet—essentially, a virtual wardrobe. Furthermore, the feature will allow you to mix and match different clothing items to virtually try them on. The company states that this new Google Photos feature will create a catalog of the clothes you have worn in your photos, thereby building a digital wardrobe. This ensures that your entire wardrobe remains right at your fingertips.

How does the feature work?

Google Photos’ new Wardrobe feature is AI-based. It uses artificial intelligence to automatically create a dedicated “Wardrobe” collection based on the clothing items detected in your photo library.

What are its benefits?

  1. It offers you a new way to manage and visualize your wardrobe using your existing photos.
  2. You can filter your items by category. View everything at once, or focus on a specific category—such as jewelry, tops, or bottoms.
  3. This makes it easy to locate items that might be tucked away in a corner of your closet—pieces you might have otherwise forgotten you even owned.
  4. You can mix and match clothing items to create new outfits. You can then share these looks with friends or save them to a digital moodboard.
  5. You can create distinct moodboards for various occasions—such as summer weddings, a trip to Italy, or workwear.
  6. You can virtually try on your clothes. Preview exactly how an outfit will look on you before you even put it on.

How to Use It?

Using this feature is very simple. Select various items, and then click on “Try it on” to view a preview. Currently, it is available for Android devices. The feature will also become available to iOS users by the end of this year.
